BIOGRAPHY
Hannah Shipley is mixed media artist and educator from North Carolina. She has earned a BFA from Appalachian State University in 2021 and earned her MFA from the University of Florida in 2026.
Introduced to painting and drawing at a young age, her work has evolved to explore a complicated familial past, whilst challenging the creation of identity and highlighting the incorrectness and messiness of memory. With a collaborative ideation process, her work engages storytelling through multiple perspectives, the act of remembering, and embracing the unknowable. Her work is not a method of fixing truth; rather, a constant revision of perception and understanding to whom and where we belong.
Shipley has exhibited in venues locally, regionally, and nationally. Her most recent exhibiton include Topographies od memory, in Gainesville, FL at the Gary R. Libby Focus Gallery, as well as exhibitions at the Walter Piehl Gallery, Northwest Arts Center, USM Museum of Art, and Smith Gallery in Boone, NC.
